A Level Results – Students Hit Top Marks in Science
Staff and students at UTCC are delighted to be celebrating a great set of results today, with 100% of students passing their A level and BTEC courses.
Over 80% of the grades across the A level Sciences and Maths were at A*-C. In Biology, an outstanding 93% of students achieved grades A*-C and in Maths the figure was 89%. The average grade in BTEC Applied Science was Distinction.
These results, coming soon after Ofsted praised the college’s innovative Maths and Science teaching, are a sustained improvement on last year.
At UTC Cambridge, the staff have high expectations of students and the exceptional “real-world” projects delivered by top biomedical and technology companies enhance and enliven their studies, developing young people with the skills, attitudes and ambition required to succeed. The Year 13 cohort have clearly taken full advantage of the innovation and challenge at UTCC and their results are testament to this.
Headteacher Sian Foreman commented “Every student has been successful in achieving the grades they need to progress onto their chosen university places, apprenticeships and careers in Science. The staff and students have worked incredibly hard to ensure this level of success and I’m really proud of them all. These results clearly demonstrate that UTC Cambridge in it’s short life is developing into a centre of excellence for Science, Technology and Maths as part of Parkside Federation Academies.”
Destinations for students at UTCC are very impressive, with currently 70% going on to university this year to study courses ranging from Medicine to Palaeontology and Internal Architecture to Zoology.
