GCSE Success Stories

There have been numerous individual GCSE successes, here we share a few of these with you:

Luke Dolan  A*A*A*A*AAAABBB
Luke is celebrating his 11 GCSEs passes, including A* Physics and Biology, As in Chemistry and Further Maths and the new level 9 in Further Maths. Luke had to accept he had done pretty well in his exams when he saw his results included 100% in four papers!  “I have loved the environment and the people here at UTC and will now stay on to take my A Levels here.  My Biology teacher really pushed me and I’m so pleased she did.  I’m on the Student Council here and I really like how open and honest the staff are with students.”Luke intends to study Particle Physics in the long term, exploring the minutiae of atoms and their behaviour and hopes to become an expert on dark matter.
Ghazal Seidi  – A*A*A*A*A*AAAA

Ghazal was delighted with her results which included 9 A or A* grades.  She is going on to Hills Road to study Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Philosophy and is looking forward to that.  “I have really enjoyed my time at UTC and of course I loved the Sciences but for me English became one of my favourite subjects too.  I wasn’t predicted A grades in English when I joined UTC and so my levels 8 and 9 in English Literature and Language are really special.”

Ghazal is already thinking ahead to University and plans to apply for Oxbridge.

Jamie Darby A*A*A*A*AAAABBC
Jamie is another happy student at UTC, celebrating his 11 GCSE passes which included 7 A/A*s.  “UTC is a really different kind of school.  I feel more confident about studying and working in new environments just because of the way we are taught and the experiences you gain through challenge projects.  I did work really hard and did plenty of revision and I’m happy its paid off!” Jamie too, got 100% in four papers.Jamie hopes to be a Physicist or perhaps to study Medicine in the long-term.
Katrina Cloherty A*AAAABBCCC
With her A Grades in five subjects including the three she intends to study at A level, Chemistry, Biology and Maths, Katrina is staying on at UTC for the next two years. “I really like it here at UTC, I feel respected as an individual and it is such a friendly environment.  I’ve made a lot of good friends and many of them of them are staying on at UTC.”Katrina was delighted with her A in Biology, her favourite subject, and just as delighted (if a little surprised!) with her A in Physics.
